I think I figured out what bugs me about Asami. She reminds me of June. Which isn’t a bad thing, but June was a mercenary. Neutral. Meaning she could be working both sides. What if…
Hopefully working both sides AND batting for both sides. Cough. /Shameless femmeslasher to the end. Asami is amazingly gorgeous and the only way she could be more perfect is if she ends up being a villain. But I’d happily settle for morally ambiguous….
I definitely can see her having some unclear loyalties, or having a big redemption style arc (since Korra seems to be the analogue for Aang, with Mako = Katara and Bolin = Sokka, Asami is such an ‘opposite’ of Korra that I’m thinking she might be the series’ Zuko equivalent).
While I’m never EVER against villain sex
(and with Asami? OH MY THE POSSIBILITIES ♥), I think it would actually be more interesting if what we’ve seen of her is ultimately reflective of her real character. While I’d agree she and Mako are moving awfully fast (though there could be some level of timeskipping across the ep that just wasn’t conveyed very well?) it’s important to remember that Bryke kinda aren’t great at building up ships. They just kind of happen. Sokka/Yue basically went full-on Romeo-n-Juliet over the course of one episode, and Zuko/Mai happened almost literally off-screen.I can see Asami genuinely trying to be friends with Korra but getting blown off, and eventually they try to hang out for the good of the team, but eventually click when Korra discovers she too is pretty good at beating people up (because fighting is how Korra bonds with EVERYONE XD)
